The TASE will split the real estate and construction industry into two separate sub-industries - "income-producing real estate" and "construction real estate". The TASE explained that the decision to split the index was made in light of the fact that the nature of the activity of the companies engaged in real estate yields and the risk arising from their activity - different from the nature of the activity of the companies engaged in construction and the risks arising from this activity.
The real estate and construction industry today includes 91 companies, with a total market value of about NIS 133 billion, with the 72 largest companies included in the Tel Aviv Real Estate Index with a total market value of about NIS 128 billion. Splitting the real estate and construction industry into two sub-industries will also make it possible in the future to launch indices that monitor each sub-industry separately, in parallel with the continued publication of the current Tel Aviv-Real Estate index, the TASE emphasized.
