The second largest airport in the city on the way to a significant upgrade, all the details about the project that will quickly connect the airport to downtown Manhattan
The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday issued a final permit for the railroad that connects trains from Manhattan to LaGuardia Airport, allowing the launch of the $ 2 billion project with federal funding.
The 1.5-mile airline will connect the airport to the train station near Cityfield, home of the New Mets, and from there passengers will be able to reach directly from the Long Island Railroad and the No. 7 subway line to Manhattan.
Critics of the project objected, saying it would adversely affect Queens neighborhoods and not be a faster leader.
But for years, public and transportation officials have sought to build a train link to Guardia, which opened more than 80 years ago and remains one of the largest airports in the United States without direct train service.
