The Go to Guy - Tomer Maor initiated this week
# Entrepreneur of the Week Tomer Maor # Post 6
Okay, it's gone fast.
A little over two weeks ago my father contacted me, a little after I joined the group and offered me to be an entrepreneur this week. In that second, the thought "I'm not an entrepreneur but" crossed my mind and a moment later my father explained that it would be interesting to get some legal perspective on all sorts of issues.
What a challenge! I started breaking my head, trying to figure out what I could write. My father suggested I read posts by previous weekly entrepreneurs, and I discover a bunch of cannons one, each more inspiring than the last. Each with impressive experience and important tips. How can I give value?
I began to reconsider in my head what I had been doing since I set up my activity. This really was not my original plan, but it turns out that about 98 percent of those I cared for at the time were real estate investors. I put some more thought into it and said to myself "what things would have prevented those people from coming to me with problems later". Because in my opinion, the role of a lawyer is not just to solve problems - he is primarily to prevent them.
At that moment the posts just started writing themselves.
So first of all - thank you all for the time you have invested in reading. Thank you very much for every like, comment (positive or critical), post, question, question. Thanks to Lior, Avi, Nirit and the entire team (of Real Estate F) for their interest.
In my initial conversation with the staff, they asked me what I was doing. And the truth? I have a hard time answering I have a hard time defining. Yes, I open LLCs, issue them EINs and prepare Operating Agreements (from the generic and the simple to the complex ones), draft agreements, open bank accounts (legally yes? Without combinations). But the examples I gave also show that I do other things. Which is difficult to define. So I tried to think a little bit more, how I define myself, what I do and what I want to be.
The Go to Guy.
I like to help. Loves finding solutions and avoiding problems. Even if it's something I did not think I knew how to do, I like to think and find the creative solution or even refer to the right professional (and I have done this quite a few times). Because in an altruistic way - I'm here in the United States. I live here, live here, graduate here. The knowledge and ability I have gained can help a lot of people. So I want to avoid the next “Danish” (post 2) or the next “mercy” (post 3). Wants people to know what to do so that what happened to Abram with his accountant does not happen to them (post 5).
So anyone who wants, can see in me his Go to Guy. Whether it's advice, service, or just having fun talking. And if you come to Boston - I'm also the Go with Guy for coffee, beer or whatever you fancy.
