Mortgage interest rates jump again, remain above 6%

Mortgage rates jumped more than a quarter of a point this week and remained at their highest level in 14 years, with no relief for foreclosed home buyers.

The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate increased to 6.29% from 6.02% last week, according to Freddie Mac, the highest point since the last week of October 2008.
