My friend is looking to buy a home and can totally afford it on
her own, but her father has access to a VA loan and we’re wondering
if theres anyway to utilize this (This is for the benefit of all
involved as they would be living with her, so not some weird
situation where someones taking advantage of anyone. They want to
figure out the best deal that works for all of them)
We looked into her buying the home in her name with her credit
score, but she can’t use the benefit as she is not his spouse. I’m
wondering if the home could be under his name to use his VA benefit
with her as the cosigner? He has a decent credit score (689) but
next to no income, she has a good score (720) and great income
looking at around $250-$300k loan.
Question is, will he qualify for a loan if he has nearly no
income at all except disability benefits, as long as she cosigns.
Or does his income matter?
