Single-Family Rents are Climbing Higher
A new report, from CoreLogic, shows a 3.2% year-over-year increase in September for single-family rents. Increases peaked in February, but they have stabilized with an average 2.9% year-over-year increase in 2018. The rate of increase varies from city to city. Phoenix is seeing the biggest rent increases at 6.6%. Las Vegas was next with Orlando close behind. Honolulu was at the opposite end of the spectrum with a .3% average year-over-year increase. (1)
Rents for low-end rentals are also increasing more rapidly than single-family rentals in the higher price range. CoreLogic economist Molly Boesel said of the higher rents, “We’ve seen a slight uptick in rent prices over the past few months as strong employment growth continues.”
Single-family rents increased 3.2 percent year over year in September 2018, up from a 2.7 percent increase in September 2017, according to the CoreLogic Single-Family Rental Index (SFRI).
