How Do You Go From A Career On Stage To Real Estate Investments In The US?

How do you go from a stage career to real estate investing in the U.S.?
So here’s the story…
Since childhood, I was a “stage kid.”
I danced every day, loved theater, and dreamed of performing professionally—and that’s exactly what I did.
For eight years, I was an actress at the Cameri Theater.
But since I mostly got smaller roles in long-running plays… I found myself filling the time (and entertaining the rest of the cast) by talking about real estate and scouting deals in a charming neighborhood in South Tel Aviv that was just starting to grow—Florentin.
And just like that, while performing on stage, I bought my first apartment in Tel Aviv.
(For roughly the price of a very small single-family home in Ohio…)
I renovated it, rented it out, and waited for appreciation.
Once the property gained enough equity—I refinanced the mortgage and bought another apartment in Tel Aviv, almost fully financed by the banks!
From there, I continued with more deals:
Buy → Renovate → Rent → Refinance
or
Buy → Renovate → Sell
And I did all of this without much capital—and without even knowing these strategies had names like flips or BRRRR.
At the same time, I built an aerial acrobatics school, which over the years became a business that could run remotely.
That allowed me to pursue another dream—traveling the world with my family 🌍
Then COVID hit
Overnight, classes shut down—and income stopped.
So I went back to my old love: real estate.
I enrolled (remotely) in an excellent deal-making course by Rafi Mizrahi—an absolute pro.
And suddenly, I found myself learning U.S. real estate… while traveling in a caravan across New Zealand.
What a trip 🙃
I came out of that course fired up—and knew I was going all in.
Not long after finishing, I closed my first rental with an amazing partner I met in the course, Michal Assaf.
Right after that, we did two flips together.
It was truly a “partnership at first sight”—one that turned into a deep, long-term friendship.
Even though we later continued on separate paths,
we’re still close—and still own that first rental together.
The beginning wasn’t easy
Despite the motivation, we were very afraid to take the leap on our first deals.
Since both of us were fully committed and hungry for results,
we decided to work closely with Shay Brin—a true professional—who helped turn theory into real execution.
For that, I’m grateful to this day.
But not everything went smoothly…
In the next post, I’ll share:
🔥 The flip that almost became a flop
🔥 Rentals from hell
🔥 And the expensive lessons I learned along the way
See you tomorrow 🙂
