Today’s topic – How to build strong relationships with professionals on the other side of the world
In my opinion, this is one of the most important topics in real estate—and in business in general.
In this post, I’m sharing what I’ve found actually works for me, and what I consistently practice with the people I work with and with my team at IndiBoots.
1. First and foremost – be human
It may sound obvious, but this is the foundation of everything.
Listen, don’t just talk. Get to know the person in front of you genuinely, and share a bit about yourself as well.
Before getting into business matters, ask how their week was, find common ground like hobbies or sports. When the relationship is good, the way people treat you—and the quality of the work—improves significantly.
2. Create routines and commitment
I like working within clear frameworks:
A weekly Zoom call with key people
Daily status updates
Weekly reports on every project with contractors
It’s also extremely important to keep your own commitments and timelines. When you’re serious and precise, the other side respects you and operates the same way.
3. Full transparency and clear expectations
One of the most critical things is speaking the same language—explaining exactly what you want and making sure the other side truly understands, especially on large renovation projects.
Don’t keep things bottled up. Say everything, even if it sometimes leads to disagreement. In the long run, this prevents many problems.
4. Turn them into partners, not just executors
When people feel they’re part of something bigger, they give much more.
You can also reward success—offer bonuses or percentages—so they’re genuinely invested in the project and want it to succeed.
5. Weekends and holidays
For Americans, weekends are very important and usually non-working—this needs to be understood and respected. The same goes for holidays.
In addition, I send small holiday gifts to my key people. It strengthens the relationship in a surprising way and shows that you care about them beyond just work.
These are the things that helped me build strong relationships with my team and the professionals I work with.
Hope this was helpful—see you in the next post 🙌
