Introduction
Hello everyone, my name is Amit Schlleffer, I’m 25 years old, from Tel Aviv.
#Entrepreneur of the Week – Post 1
This week I’m not going to talk only about flips, entrepreneurship, and rentals,
but mainly about young people
who are searching for “that thing they want to do with their lives”
and don’t always know how or where to start.
I hope these posts will give a bit of inspiration.
Let me jump back to age 21.
I was discharged from the Nahal Brigade during the COVID period.
Toward the end of my army service, while doing guard duty in Hebron, I was also producing parties in Tel Aviv.
On the day of my discharge, I became a partner in managing a bar in Tel Aviv.
I spent a few years deep in the nightlife world.
Toward the end, I pretty much exhausted that scene.
I felt lost and depressed, not knowing what I really wanted to do with my life.
At the same time, I was saving money with the goal of buying an apartment in Israel.
I looked at Be’er Sheva and Ashkelon,
but I realized I didn’t want to commit to a property with negative cash flow,
especially when I was about to start studying and live in Tel Aviv.
So I gave that up.
I come from a home where studying is considered mandatory.
Everyone in my family has at least one degree.
I took the psychometric exam three times, enrolled at Tel Aviv University,
and followed the path I knew — because I was 23
and that’s what you’re “supposed” to do at that stage.
Six months before starting my degree, I flew to the Far East.
There, my best friend wouldn’t stop telling me
that I had to take a course and buy a property in the U.S.
My English was terrible, and I said there was no chance I was doing that.
But he convinced me it was a good idea, and eventually I went for it.
I came back to Israel, took a course,
and in October — one month before my studies were supposed to start — I flew to the U.S.
I bought my first property, and then another one.
And honestly? I completely fell in love.
The entrepreneurship, making things happen,
the endless learning, working with people — I connected to it like crazy.
I came back to Israel and started studying,
but I didn’t feel like I was fulfilling myself.
I suffered in classes.
After three months, I realized this wasn’t it.
I left the degree and went all in
on what I truly love doing (real estate)
and everything that comes with that choice.
We’ll talk more about that later this week.
