Introduction post Who Am I! What Am I! (Am I A Guinea Pig Or A Guinea Pig And Those Who Understand

Entrepreneur of the Week | Real Estate Investments USA

Nice to meet you, my name is Orr Kichin, and I’m about to dig into your heads this coming week 😄
I guess the first thing I should do is tell you a bit about myself and what I actually do.

Luckily for me, sometime around 2014 I picked up a little book called “Rich Dad Poor Dad”
(yes yes, cliché 😅),
and immediately ran to buy my first investment apartment in Haifa.

I was over the moon.
I had zero cash flow.

But that was totally fine — we all know that in Israel you don’t buy for cash flow,
you buy for appreciation.
So I sat quietly, satisfied.

Except… the real estate bug wouldn’t leave me alone.

I found myself driving all over the country, attending every real estate lecture I could find.
Oh — and I also didn’t have enough money to buy another apartment in Israel.

So you can imagine how my jaw dropped when I started hearing rumors that:

  • You can invest remotely in the U.S.

  • It costs much less than in Israel (in 2015 — much, much less)

  • Returns are 10%+

Long story short — I bought my first U.S. property in 2016
(and it’s still with me today, my best friend — one of the best purchases I’ve ever made).

And around 2017 —
with four rented houses,
a baby in my arms,
and a very confused husband,
I publicly announced that I am not going back to the office (some random high-tech company).

Let the world burn — I’m following my heart.
And my heart is in U.S. real estate.
And even if I don’t make a single dollar — I’ll be at peace with it.
(My husband was obviously thrilled to hear that part 😂)

Spoiler alert:
There were times I didn’t make a dollar.
And times I even lost a dollar or two.

Real estate has this funny habit — it pulls you in all directions.
And over the last 10 years, I’ve done quite a lot:

  • Rentals

  • Investor mentoring (not doing that anymore)

  • Flips

  • New construction

  • Capital raising

  • Lending (as the lender)

  • Real estate education

  • Mentorship

  • Airbnb

  • MTR (Mid-Term Rentals)

I think I covered everything…
Though there might be a few side niches I already forgot 😅

Today, I’m focused on something called:
Mid-Term Rentals by the Room

I currently have 20 units,
but I’ll tell you everything about that in Post #6.

So… stay tuned 👀

Sneak peek of what’s coming:

Post #2:
There’s one uncomfortable truth about real estate investing —
to make money, you need to be someone who already has money
(wait! don’t get discouraged).

Post #3:
There are many things I’m not sure about…
but what if I just jump into the water and that’s it?!
Worst case — I pay the price of the mistake.

Post #4:
A flip deal that failed — and led to something amazing.

Post #5:
The power of mentors (not only from U.S. real estate).
It’s not cheap — but every dollar came back to me double.
Not in cash flow, but in mindset.

Post #6:
So what is mid-term by the room anyway?!
