Intro Post
It’s such a pleasure to be featured in the Entrepreneur of the Week corner!
My name is Sharon Hurin, an attorney, investor, and real estate entrepreneur focusing on the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area.
I was first exposed to the fascinating world of diversified real estate investment opportunities in the U.S. while studying for the bar exams. A friend casually told me about an investment property he had purchased in England, and my curiosity was immediately sparked. Being a lawyer by training (what can I say…), I started asking a lot of questions—how do you invest remotely? How do you hedge risks? How do you find the right project? And ultimately—how can I do this too?
From there, things moved fairly quickly. I began researching the English market—legal frameworks, returns, preferred areas, types of investment projects, financing options, and more—only to realize that the most suitable path for me was actually investing in the United States.
The relatively low barrier to entry, financing options, market size, language, and many other advantages were key factors in my decision to invest in U.S. real estate.
To learn the fundamentals and meet others who shared the same passion, I decided to take a real estate course. During the course itself, I started taking real, hands-on action—and absolutely loved it. After long days of studying for the bar exams, the U.S. market would wake up, and I’d find myself speaking with agents, lenders, wholesalers, and contractors—many of whom later became partners in my journey.
Over time, I realized that my legal background and experience as an attorney in investment and capital-raising within the tech world were highly relevant to real estate. Negotiation management, risk mitigation, contract drafting and review—all are integral parts of the day-to-day work.
To date, I’ve acquired several properties together with my partner Yam Ruach, using creative financing strategies. We continue to grow our portfolio, diversify the types of deals we take on, and move forward with full momentum.
In the upcoming posts, I’ll be sharing insights on building a strong network and an environment that drives action, what to do when motivation is low, finding a truly compatible partnership, building a strong local team with a win-win mindset, and some interesting challenges we’ve encountered along the way.
