*** Post from the heart ***
Today I posted a post in the group Women Talking Real Estate (a great group founded by Lynn Steiner Ajami and I really recommend women here to join it), regarding my investment. One of the women there asked me how I find local partners I can trust. I wrote to her that beyond experience and acquaintance, etc., one of the most important things for me is to see every partner or colleague of mine as a true partner.
**What does that mean?**
When I set out on a new and independent path a few months ago and decided to become a full time investor I made a few more decisions with myself.
One of the important decisions I made was to act from a place of abundance and not from a place of fear.
There is such a thing as not sharing anyone with our Boots on the Ground so that no one will “steal them from us” right?
Ask yourself honestly – when was the last time you shared who your broker is, who the regular contractors are, who the allsellers you like best and bring you shell deals?
I believe we live in a world where everyone is an independent entity, and free to work with whomever he chooses.
If someone chooses to work with me, it’s because I have gained his trust or his appreciation – personal and professional.
It is my job and my responsibility to maintain relationships on a daily basis so that my partners choose to work with me anew every day.
They do not have to work with me, and they probably do not work with me just because no one else has “discovered” them yet because I kept them a secret .. Come on ..
** So how do I think I can get to the point where I trust my fellow colleagues? **
1. For starters – really see them as partners.
Not just a contractor giving a quote and I lowering it as much as possible, not just Olsler who is not interested in what his profit is the main thing that will give me a shell price, not a broker that I will let him submit to me Lowball bids all day and burn it in the market.
2. Busy cultivating the relationship and seeing the person on the other side, instead of hiding it and keeping it a secret that no one will “take from me”.
3. Understand that we are free people and no one “owns” me and vice versa.
Maybe a stronger player will come, who better serves the interests of my partners … and then maybe the dynamics will change. Just like if you find a new contractor who will do a much better job and cheaper – probably something will change.
4. Understand that good collaborations last from a place of giving, transparency, empathy, appreciation … and not fear.
So maybe I live in a movie, and maybe I should “wake up” about my life .. but that’s my truth.
Without hurting anyone’s dignity, real estate is not rocket science in my opinion. It’s 100% working with humans.
So for me my most important investment is in the people I work with.
It’s that simple.
And finally, lest you think I’m just confusing my mind, here are people I’m currently working with in Cleveland, and flying at them to the maximum.
Feel free to contact them and work with them as well. Say Neta recommended.
And no, I do not gain anything from it beyond the praise for the people I really love and deserve 🙂
Daniel Nigiri – one of the best all-rounders in Cleveland and in general. Every deal of his is good. Just any deal.
Yuval Naveh – Ulsler is insanely strong in Cleveland with a sea of equal deals, super professional.
Nadav and Jordi from Overland – the best management company in Cleveland in my opinion By Far. They are also remodeling contractors who make renovations at the highest level possible. Reliable, thorough, insanely professional guys, know the B areas in Cleveland like the back of their hand. We also find deals for investors and lend to investors. Wake me up at night – I put money in them.
Nadim and Dan Issa – good, thorough, reliable, charming renovation contractors, with fair prices.
Tony Farra – Realtor. Knows how to sell ice to Eskimos. And very concentrated in areas C and C-
Wayne Brooks – Realtor and also Ulsler. Insanely professional, and a pleasure to work with. Can help you with renovations too, but will probably not have time.
