This Is Extremely Exciting.
Entrepreneur of the Week – Post 5
Let me begin with a huge thank-you to everyone who’s been writing to me across all platforms.
It’s incredibly moving.
That said, let’s try to keep the conversation here, so the answers can belong to everyone.
In recent years, I worked wide and shallow — many projects across five countries, with minimal personal involvement, giving local managers and partners a great deal of freedom.
Over the past year, I’ve returned to working narrow and deep — currently one and a half markets —
with 100% involvement.
There isn’t one winning technique.
There are seasons for different approaches.
Working deep and narrow allows you to get closer to the picture — and at high resolution, you see everything.
It’s easier to fix things when you’re close.
Waking up from a distant, high-level view — even when it’s painful — is necessary.
An entrepreneur is better off moving between wide & shallow and deep & narrow, in order to build a vision that evolves steadily over time.
The focus I spoke about last night is the conscious choice to move between these dimensions — fully and intentionally.
Everything I’ve written over the past five days only truly matters if it leads to healthy intergenerational transfer.
If you’re fortunate — your parents are still alive, and at the same time your children’s eyes are turned toward you —
use real estate as a language.
There is no wealth without real estate.
Get used to talking about money — about buying and selling.
Teach yourselves how to make mistakes, analyze them, and draw conclusions.
Enjoy the journey.
The road to happiness passes through muddy pits.

from radish seeds grows a radish,
and from sweet pea seeds grows a sweet pea.

Mistakes — and what I learned from them.
