Introduction Post
Hello dear entrepreneurs and real estate investors – it’s a pleasure to be here with you in this forum and to share a bit about my life and profession.
My name is Dafna Bartal, and professionally, I’ve been an attorney for over 15 years specializing in Estate Planning, Trusts, and Tax Strategies. This field allows me to blend strategic thinking with the most powerful tool we have – the family, which is often the core reason we invest and build wealth.
Beyond my professional life, I’m a mother in a large family with children of different ages, needs, and dynamics. I also belong to the “sandwich generation” – caring for both children and aging parents. It’s a daily challenge, but also a constant source of inspiration for my work.
I grew up in beautiful Haifa, immersed in a rich and colorful culture. That’s where I first developed a deep curiosity, a love for analysis, and a desire to balance emotion, logic, and intellect.
My academic journey took place in the United States, both on the West Coast and the East Coast. I earned degrees in multiple fields – Accounting, Business, Political Science, and Engineering – driven by a strong interest in financial, public, and analytical systems. I continued to law school and focused my legal training on Tax Law and Estate Planning. I also completed a three-year specialized internship, focusing on taxation, trusts, inheritance law, wealth planning, and legacy creation.
Over the years, I’ve worked in both the private and public sectors – advising families and managing estates, as well as representing the government in complex tax cases. I’ve also helped families navigate inheritance proceedings in probate court. This work has shown me – firsthand – the difference proper planning can make. When done right, it brings peace of mind. When neglected, it often results in conflict, delays, creditor issues, and emotional strain during already difficult times.
That’s what drove me to specialize and help families access the gift of preparation – something everyone deserves.
Today, my law firm primarily serves families in New York, New Jersey, Florida, the Carolinas, Washington, and California.
I personally grew up in a complex family environment. Perhaps that’s why I was drawn to a field that brings harmony, order, and protection. My goal is to help families avoid court battles and create clarity – through advice that’s not only strategic and smart, but also compassionate and creative. That’s exactly what I’ve found in the world of Estate Planning.
As a lawyer, I see this as a mission:
To help families untangle the complexities and focus on what matters most – peace of mind, legacy building, and passing down values and assets to future generations.
I love thinking outside the box, offering solutions that balance protection, tax optimization, flexibility, and fairness.
Real estate is also close to my heart. While I prefer reading books over watching TV, I discovered real estate through HGTV shows. Sure, they’re entertaining and dramatized, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned – it’s that the drama belongs on TV, not in your family’s inheritance plan.
Proper estate planning helps keep the drama away from your family’s real life.
And yes, if you watch closely, even those HGTV shows reveal that real estate is complex and requires professional guidance. In my practice, I often deal with real estate assets in the context of estate planning and estate-related real estate transactions.
A bit more personal:
I love to sing and create music – it has always been a part of my life. And in many ways, estate planning is like a good piece of music. It requires creativity, rhythm, harmony, and thoughtful composition. Every family plan should be custom-tailored to their unique melody.
Estate planning and business succession planning go far beyond legal paperwork –
They are how we care for our loved ones even when we’re no longer here.
They are how we pass on our legacy – our values, our efforts, our intentions, and our vision – exactly the way we want.
Join me this week for a journey into the world of Estate Planning.
